As a wife, friend, and self-proclaimed beauty product enthusiast, you want to use nothing but the best on your body; and want the same for the ones that are near and dear to you. Before picking up and purchasing just any beauty item, it is essential that you spend a few moments reading the back label of the product. While most labels are straight forward with their ingredients, others are not; and reading the label can become a daunting and slightly confusing task. Here are 3 tips to consider the next time you are shopping in stores or online to make being aware of your skin care products a snap!
Tip #1-Look for Products that are labeled, “Organic Skin Care”
Now more than ever, consumers are purchasing organic skin and beauty products. They want to use only the best and most natural ingredients on their body and they understand organic skincare is the gentlest and safest way to nourish their skin. These products will have a USDA organic certified circle somewhere on their packaging or product. You can find every and any kind of beauty product such as organic soap, body wash, face wash, lotion, and even make-up which satisfy the USDA organic standards, and are perfectly safe to use on even the delicate skin of a baby.
If you see the word, “paraben” on any last part of a word (butylparaben) on label of a product you pick up, put it down. Parabens are harsh chemicals found in many skincare products and should be avoided at all costs because they may be linked to illness and hormonal imbalance when used long term.
Tip #3-Don’t Let the Words, “Tear-Free” Fool You
When you are shopping for shampoos, many of the big name brands boast a “tear-free” formula. These words may be deceiving to new moms and most consumers who think tear-free means natural and good for you. In fact, tear-free means that a chemical anesthetic was used to numb the eyes and organic skin care products that claim they are truly organic yet boast a tear free formula are not!
As a consumer who is not only conscious about their health, but the environment as well; it is best to look for products that boast an organic skin care sign to ensure that you are using nothing but the best and most natural ingredients on the body of you and yours!
